Who is Lucie?
Lucie’s Place was founded in 2012 by Penelope Poppers, dedicated to dear friend, Lucie Marie Hamilton. Lucie was a friend, daughter, fierce LGBT advocate and a mentor to many. She came out as trans early in life, and passed away at the young age of 20. She is remembered for her tough love. Penelope and those who cared about Lucie sought to bridge a gap in housing services for trans and queer youth in Little Rock.
In 2020 Lucie's Place began to be re-incorporated into an organization that addresses the conditions of homelessness as structural and efforts for the development of autonomous, liberated TLGBQ+ communities with collective leadership rooted in transparency, and justice.
Thanks for everything, Lucie.
